MELT at EMINENT 2008 The work of the MELT project was presented in two workshops during the 2008 EMINENT conference to a combined audience of nearly 70 delegates. As well as highlighting how Associate Partners in the Learning Resource Exchange could benefit from MELT social tagging tools and the project's work on automatic metadata generation/translation, delegates also had a presentation from Riina Vuorikari at European Schoolnet who has been analysing initial results from an
evaluation of teacher-created tags.

LRE developers' workshop Building a Learning Resource Exchange (LRE) for Schools
September 8-9, 2008 – Leuven, Belgium
This workshop is designed for technical staff (with a working knowledge of the Java programming language) of organisations that wish to:
Make their educational content available via the Learning Resource Exchange (LRE) for schools and/or
Chinese brochure Skólavefurinn, our Icelandic partners in the
MELT project, have published the project brochure in Chinese. This
development, which might at first appear surprising, springs from a
project undertaken by Dr. Geir Sigurðsson, Phd. in Chinese Philosophy
(current Director of Icelandic Center for Asian Studies of the
University of Iceland and Director of Northern Light Confucius
Institute of Iceland). Dr. Sigurðsson has been creating teaching
materials for Icelanders learning Chinese and introducing China to
Icelanders.

MELT kick-off meeting in Brussels On 12 and 13 October 2006, about 40 people gathered in Brussels for the kick-off meeting of the MELT project.
